![]() Naked Weapon has surely been the least expected title from Hong Kong Legends this year. In Hong Kong the film was released theatrically in November 2002 and it has received mixed reviews. Being the only official sequel to Naked Killer (also available from Hong Kong Legends) it mixes modern HK action with well tired battling babes and in my opinion it works just fine with this film. The level of filming technology in terms of special effects and the use of good action choreography by Ching Siu-tung who also directed this film made this film what it is. The most talked about HK actioner in late 2002/early 2003. Having released a 2-disc DVD edition Hong Kong Legends have done another superb job. ![]() One of the best Jackie Chan-fights in a film in which Jackie isn't even the main lead. Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars is the third adventure of the Five Lucky Stars after Winners & Sinners and My Lucky Stars. Regarded by many fans as the best part of the series it was only a matter of time for Hong Kong Legends to release this title. ![]() The final cover art was changed. Andy Lau, Anita Mui, Maggie Cheung and Kenny Bee all star in this martial arts swordsplay film. Directed by Sammo Hung, action directed by Chin Siu-tung and drama directed by Mabel Cheung, this is one of the finest wuxia pin-films that was shot in the 1990's. Captured by a wonderful cinematography, Moon Warriors not only offers great action scenes, but also dramatic parts that in my opinion became more powerful after the passing of late Anita Mui in 2003. Is Hong Kong Legends release of this DVD a worthy paying of their last respect to her? ![]() Sammo Hung helmed this all-star classic of Hong Kong action cinema and when Sammo is directing we all know what to expect. Full-contact fights and stunt performances of the finest. Now, HKL have finally released this title. Was it worth the long wait? You'll find out in this review. Note: The comparison shots I took in this DVD review are from the R0HK Universe DVD (lower screenshot).
The two versions differ as differnet cuts. The UniverseDVD features a long scene in which Sammo recruits the hookers. This is not present on the HKL disc. On the other hand, does the HKL DVD feature a scene with Yuen Biao entering the hookers' room and Rosamund Kwan following him outside the place where they kiss. Furthermore, there are small changes here and there. It is hard to say which cut is the original intended cut. I only know that I'll keep my Universe disc for reference.
